Eley Headstamps

This page contains Eley shotshell headstamp photos and production date ranges. The date ranges below are not exact but an estimation of production dates based on available information. If you are aware of evidence that proves a date range on a brand of shell is incorrect then please email me with a photo of said evidence so I can change the date.

The Eley company was formed in 1828 in London to make cartridges. Eley operated independently until 1918 when they joined 28 other companies to form Explosives Trades Ltd. In 1920 the name was changed to Nobel Industries. This company joined 3 other large firms to become Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in 1926. Eley kept their brand name throughout these mergers.
